Public Service Cabinet Secretary Geoffrey Ruku has issued a scathing rebuke of opposition leaders, accusing them of fueling tribalism, promoting lawlessness, and attempting to destabilize the country through ethnic incitement and political sabotage.
Speaking during a relief distribution exercise in Kisauni, Mombasa County, CS Ruku claimed that Kenya was facing a wave of disobedience and violence stoked by “tribalistic and hateful people” who have failed in their leadership responsibilities.
“There is a lot of disobedience in Kenya, which is brought by tribalistic people, hateful people, those who want to see anarchy in the Republic of Kenya,” said Ruku. “These are the same people terrorizing Kenyans.”
The Cabinet Secretary maintained that the coastal region remained peaceful, but pointed fingers at unnamed opposition figures whom he said had turned to ethnic mobilization after squandering past opportunities in government.
In some corners of the country, there are those who were unable to deliver on the jobs given to them by the people. Now, their work is tribalism, disobedience, and inciting violence,” Ruku charged.
I want to say this while here in Kisauni: the people of Kenya will remain united and will continue to stand with the Government of Kenya until the next general election. When that time comes, Kenyans will decide who leads.”
CS Ruku, who led the food and household relief mission under the Huduma Smart Serikalini initiative, reiterated that the Kenya Kwanza government was committed to building a united nation through service delivery, not divisive politics.
He urged civil servants to serve all Kenyans with humility and presence, emphasizing the new government model’s focus on people-centered governance.
In this new model, we don’t wait for people to come to offices. We go where they are, with solutions, not slogans,” said Ruku.
He further assured Kisauni residents that the government would address long-standing land issues in collaboration with the Ministry of Lands.
The Public Service CS was flanked by Mombasa Woman Representative Zamzam Mohammed and Kisauni MP Rashid Bedzimba, who lauded the Huduma Smart initiative and echoed the call for unity over tribal politics.
Ruku’s comments come amid heightened political tensions in various parts of the country following protests and allegations of government suppression. The opposition has yet to respond formally to his remarks.
