Manchester City are on the verge of completing a double swoop for Tijjani Reijnders and Rayan Ait-Nouri, with both signings expected to be finalized in time for the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup.
According to Sky Sports, City are set to land Wolves left-back Rayan Ait-Nouri in a deal worth £34 million ($45 million), with a medical and official announcement expected over the weekend.
Simultaneously, the Premier League champions have reached an agreement with AC Milan for Dutch midfielder Tijjani Reijnders. The initial deal is valued at £46 million, with performance-based add-ons possibly increasing the total to £59 million.
The accelerated transfer activity aligns with City chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak’s recent pledge to conduct “swift” business this summer to bolster Pep Guardiola’s squad ahead of their international campaign in the United States.
City will begin their Club World Cup group stage campaign on June 14, facing Wydad AC (Morocco) and Al Ain (UAE) before a potential blockbuster tie against Juventus.
The club is also in advanced talks to sign Lyon playmaker Rayan Cherki, with hopes that the French talent could join in time for the global tournament.
Following a disappointing 2024/25 season — their first without a major trophy since 2016/17 — City are executing an aggressive squad overhaul. The club had already invested over £172 million in January on the signings of Omar Marmoush, Abdukodir Khusanov, Vitor Reis, and Nico Gonzalez.
However, the flurry of signings may come at a cost for some current players. Jack Grealish, who joined from Aston Villa for a record £100 million in 2021, is reportedly set to be excluded from the 35-man squad for the tournament. His omission raises fresh speculation about his future at the club.
City’s transfer strategy signals a renewed ambition to reclaim dominance both domestically and on the world stage, with Guardiola aiming to add a Club World Cup title to his impressive haul of silverware.
