Arsenal have officially signed Swedish striker Viktor Gyökeres from Sporting Lisbon on a long-term contract. The 27-year-old joins after an explosive two-year stint in Portugal and is expected to strengthen Mikel Arteta’s frontline ahead of the new season.
Arsenal Football Club have confirmed the signing of prolific Swedish striker Viktor Gyökeres from Sporting Lisbon, marking one of the most anticipated deals of the 2025 summer transfer window.
The 27-year-old joins the Premier League side on a long-term contract, having scored a remarkable 97 goals in 102 appearances for Sporting over the past two seasons. Gyökeres arrives at the Emirates with a stellar record that includes two consecutive Primeira Liga titles, a domestic cup, and back-to-back league top scorer awards.

Born in Stockholm, Gyökeres began his career with IF Brommapojkarna, where he burst onto the scene with 32 goals in 31 youth appearances. He made his senior debut at just 17 before joining Brighton & Hove Albion in 2018.
During his time in England, he had loan spells at Swansea City, St. Pauli, and Coventry City, eventually signing permanently for the Sky Blues in 2021. At Coventry, Gyökeres played a pivotal role in reaching the 2023 Championship Play-Off final.

Viktor Gyökeres will wear the number 14 shirt at Arsenal, a number made iconic by club legend Thierry Henry. He will join up with the squad immediately for their pre-season tour of Asia.
