Kenyan mental health advocate Bravin Yuri has publicly expressed concerns over content creator Kelvin Kinuthia’s decision to use Ozempic, a medication originally developed for type 2 diabetes, for rapid weight loss. Yuri took to Instagram Stories to question Kinuthia’s approach, suggesting that natural methods like a calorie deficit and regular physical activity could be more appropriate.
“You’re using drugs to lose weight, and you lose only 5 kgs in 7 days. Bruh! Get into a calorie deficit and just 10,000 steps a day, and see how much you will lose. Not every issue has to be solved with drugs and surgeries,” Yuri stated.
Kinuthia had earlier shared his weight loss journey on Instagram, revealing that he had lost 5 kilograms in one week after starting Ozempic injections, dropping from 148 kg to 143 kg. He expressed excitement about his progress and anticipated further transformation.
The use of Ozempic for weight loss has been gaining popularity among some Kenyan celebrities. Content creator Pritty Vishy also shared her experience, noting a significant weight loss over several months of using the drug. T
Ozempic, containing the active ingredient semaglutide, was initially developed to manage type 2 diabetes by regulating blood sugar levels. However, it has gained attention for its off-label use in weight loss, especially after endorsements by various public figures.
Yuri’s comments have sparked discussions on the importance of considering natural and sustainable methods for weight management, emphasizing the potential risks associated with using medication without medical supervision.
