Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has made serious allegations, claiming that his life is under threat from a state-orchestrated plot. Speaking at his Karen residence on Monday, May 19, Gachagua asserted that he received intelligence about plans to eliminate him during a church service in Gatanga Constituency on Sunday, May 18. He alleged that state-sponsored operatives were instructed to “deal with him once and for all,” suggesting the use of “biological weapons” intended to impair his mental faculties over a three-month period.
Gachagua further claimed that attempts to harm him through hired goons had failed, prompting the involvement of police and other state security agencies. He alleged that some officers, unwilling to partake in the alleged plot, informed him of plans to plant arms and weapons in his convoy to fabricate charges against him.
On the evening of May 18, Gachagua’s residences in Karen and Wamunyoro were reportedly surrounded by police officers from multiple units. His lawyer, Ndegwa Njiru, raised concerns over the late-night deployment, suggesting it was part of the alleged plot.
Gachagua denied receiving any summons from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) and stated that he had to alter his route to avoid potential disarmament of his security detail. He emphasized that his recent remarks about the 2027 general elections were not inciteful but aimed at ensuring accountability and free, fair elections.
These allegations come amid heightened political tensions and raise concerns about the safety of political figures and the state of governance in Kenya.
