Kenyan actress and digital content creator Sandra Dacha has responded candidly to a fan questioning her recent body transformation after she revealed she has lost 33 kilograms in 11 months.
The actress took to Instagram to share her progress with a lighthearted caption:
33 kilos down in just 11 months all thanks to @dr_arshni_malde of @tiaclinicskenya. I feel lighter and happier🥰 Sasa nafaa kujiita medium machine😂 July offers are coming. I will keep you posted!”
While many fans praised her transformation, one fan took to the comments to challenge Dacha’s earlier stance on body positivity and fitness:
I think you said before that you’re OK with your weight, you don’t want to lose and you were 123kgs, kumbe ilikuwa uongo… and you said you do only exercise to be strong but not to lose.”
The comment sparked laughter online, with another user replying, “Watu wanaumia kimoyomoyo.” But Sandra chose to directly address the concerns with an uncharacteristically detailed explanation.
“I am not always the type of person who explains herself a lot here but let me do it today for this ginene of a lady.”
She went on to reveal that she has always been comfortable in her plus-size body, even being born at 6 kilograms, but that things changed during the COVID-19 pandemic:
My actual weight has always been 123kgs… corona happened then I went up to 152kgs which is the last stages of obesity. It’s called Greater Morbid Obesity! Nikasema no no no no no, nataka kurudi kwa ile yangu nimezoea.”
What I’m doing now is toning down. I feel lighter and happier like before! Iwinjo Aoko?”
Sandra Dacha, who has built a loyal following through her confident persona and openness about body image, clarified that her weight loss journey is not about conforming to societal standards but about reclaiming her health and comfort.
She also credited her transformation to Ozempic, a medication increasingly used for medical weight loss.
I started the journey in August last year. This is my fourth month, and I’m loving it. I’ve gone from 152kgs to 135kgs. Losing one kilo a week. I have a long way to go but patience is key,” she said in a previous post.
Sandra’s journey has opened up deeper conversations around health versus appearance, public perception, and the mental resilience required to navigate body image scrutiny in the digital age.
