The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has confirmed the arrest of Grace Nduta Wairimu, the Member of County Assembly (MCA) for Kanyenya-ini Ward, over her alleged involvement in the staged abduction of Juja Member of Parliament George Koimburi.

In an official statement issued on May 29, 2025, the DCI revealed that Wairimu was taken into custody as part of ongoing investigations into the purported abduction, which authorities now believe was orchestrated.

“We wish to confirm that Grace Wairimu was arrested today, May 29, 2025, as part of an ongoing investigation into the stage-managed abduction of the Juja Member of Parliament,” the statement read.

The arrest follows a wave of social media speculation and conflicting reports earlier on May 29, when several users, including some political figures, claimed that Wairimu herself had been abducted by unknown persons. The DCI has since refuted these claims.

While Wairimu had asserted she was in Kangema attending a church service and political rallies on May 25, investigators have placed her at Ellis Bar and Restaurant in Kiganjo, Gatundu South—together with MP Koimburi—for the entire night in question.

MP George Koimburi was found on Monday in a coffee plantation in Kiambu County, several hours after reports of his alleged abduction emerged. Meanwhile, multiple social media posts earlier today circulated images and videos purportedly showing Grace Nduta being escorted from a restaurant in Kandara by unknown individuals.

To date, the police have arrested four suspects in connection with the incident as investigations continue.

This development has intensified public interest and political debate, with authorities vowing to unravel the full circumstances surrounding the episode.
