he National Police Service (NPS) has issued a public alert regarding a major traffic gridlock between Emali and Masimba along the Nairobi-Mombasa Highway, following a fatal road accident at Jet Inn area.

According to a press statement from the Office of the Inspector General, the incident involved three trailers that collided on a railway bridge, resulting in a complete blockage of the highway.

The NPS stated that additional officers have been deployed to the affected area to assist in restoring normal traffic flow and maintain order. The agency has warned that stern action will be taken against any motorists flouting traffic regulations during this period.

“We urge motorists to exercise patience and maintain lane discipline,” said NPS Spokesperson Muchiri Nyaga. He advised motorists to use alternative routes to ease congestion and ensure safety:

  • Mombasa-bound traffic should use the Machakos–Wote–Makindu route.
  • Nairobi-bound traffic is advised to take the Makindu–Wote–Machakos route.

NPS reaffirmed its commitment to law enforcement and public safety, emphasizing the need for calm and cooperation from road users.

The disruption has caused significant delays, and motorists are urged to stay informed through official channels as efforts to clear the scene continue.
