The National Police Service (NPS) has issued a detailed statement addressing the widely circulated video reportedly showing Juja MP George Koimburi allegedly abducted and later abandoned at a farm in the Kibichoi area of Kiambu County.

According to the press release from the Office of the Inspector General, the MP has been under investigation over a land fraud case. A consent to prosecute had already been issued by the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP).

On Friday, May 23, Koimburi reportedly evaded a police operation by escaping on a motorcycle with his private security and turning off his mobile phone. His car, which was intercepted with only the driver inside, was impounded. The driver was arrested but later released after providing a statement to authorities.

Koimburi remained out of public view until Monday, May 26, when he resurfaced amid ongoing speculation and public concern about his whereabouts.

The statement also confirms that the police visited the farm where the alleged abduction took place and have properly documented the scene. A special team from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) is currently analyzing the video footage and all surrounding circumstances to determine the authenticity of the abduction claims.

“We urge anyone with information regarding the incident shown in the amateur video to report to their nearest police station or contact us via our toll-free numbers: 999, 911, 112, or #FichuakwaDCI (0800 722 203),” the statement reads.

Muthii Nyaga, Director of Corporate Communication and spokesperson for the National Police Service, emphasized the NPS’s commitment to ensuring justice and safety for all Kenyans.

“The NPS reaffirms its unwavering commitment to serving and protecting all Kenyans, residents, visitors, and their property by ensuring all reported cases are thoroughly and expeditiously investigated,” the statement concluded.

This development comes just days after Koimburi, known for opposing the controversial Finance Bill, made headlines once again—this time under very different and more dramatic circumstances.

Police investigations remain ongoing.
