Bayern Munich Loan Deal for Chelsea Striker Nicolas Jackson Falls Through

Bayern Munich confirmed on Saturday evening that their planned loan agreement for Chelsea forward Nicolas Jackson has been canceled after the English club withdrew from the arrangement.

Jackson had traveled to Munich with the intention of finalizing a season-long loan to the German champions, who held an option to make the transfer permanent. However, following an injury to Chelsea striker Liam Delap during their 2-0 victory over Fulham on Saturday, Chelsea decided to recall Jackson before the deal was completed.

Bayern’s sporting director, Max Eberl, addressed the situation after the club’s 3-2 win against Augsburg, stating, “Chelsea informed us that they would like the player back after we agreed yesterday. The situation now is that the lad is here in Munich, but we are sending him back.”

Earlier, Jackson’s agent had publicly denied the possibility of the player returning to Chelsea, tweeting, “We’re not going back. The plane doesn’t go backwards: Munich.”

Bayern had sought to bolster their attacking options behind striker Harry Kane, especially after losing key forwards Kingsley Coman, Leroy Sané, Thomas Müller, and Mathys Tel during the summer transfer window.

Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca indicated that Delap’s injury could sideline him for six to eight weeks, emphasizing the impact on the squad’s depth. “When you have two strikers, it’s enough. When one of them is injured for different weeks, probably it’s not enough,” Maresca commented.

The transfer window is set to close on Monday, September 1, leaving limited time for further moves.
