Kenya’s national football team, Harambee Stars, is set to take part in the CECAFA Four Nations Cup scheduled for July 24–27, 2025, at the Karatu Stadium in Arusha, Tanzania. The regional competition will serve as a vital preparatory platform ahead of the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN), which is being jointly hosted by Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania.

The tournament brings together East African rivals Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, and Sudan in a tightly packed format aimed at offering competitive match experience, especially for locally-based players eligible for CHAN. The CECAFA Four Nations Cup provides an opportunity for coaches to refine tactics, test formations, and assess squad depth before the continental showdown.

Harambee Stars will open their campaign with a high-stakes fixture against hosts Tanzania on Thursday, July 24, in the second match of Matchday 1. The tournament will kick off earlier the same day with Uganda facing Sudan at 1:00pm.

The simple knockout format means that the winners of the opening matches will proceed to the final on Sunday, July 27, while the losing sides will battle it out in the third-place playoff earlier that afternoon.

This CECAFA mini-tournament marks a key opportunity for Harambee Stars head coach and his technical bench to evaluate homegrown talent under competitive pressure, especially with CHAN 2024 just weeks away.

With CHAN exclusively reserved for players active in domestic leagues, the CECAFA Four Nations Cup also acts as a critical selection filter for players aiming to secure spots in the final squad.

As regional football heats up, all eyes will be on Arusha to see how the four East African giants shape up and whether Kenya can use this tournament as a springboard to a successful CHAN campaign on home soil.
