Kenyan socialite and media personality Amber Ray has broken her silence in dramatic fashion, setting the record straight after claims surfaced online that comedian and radio host Oga Obinna paid her to appear in his music video as a vixen. In a series of pointed Instagram stories, Amber clarified that she was never paid a cent—and that the entire appearance was a personal favor, not a professional booking.

“Let me be very clear: I am not ‘just a girl you call for a shoot,’” Amber Ray wrote in her first slide, standing tall on her values. “I am a full brand, a mother, a professional, and a woman who moves with intention. I don’t entertain confusion or disrespect.”

Amber went on to reveal that Obinna had reached out personally, asking her to appear in just one scene of his video—something she agreed to out of goodwill. “At no point did we discuss or agree that I would dance with or for him. That was never part of the plan,” she emphasized.

But the set experience turned sour. According to Amber, the mood changed when she arrived on location. The script had shifted, and she was suddenly being told to perform actions she hadn’t agreed to. “When I expressed discomfort, I wasn’t heard. Instead, I was spoken to in a tone that was dismissive and disrespectful… and so, I chose to walk away.”

In a final swipe, Amber called out Obinna’s alleged claim that he had paid her KSh 40,000. “I was not paid. Obinna personally asked me for a favor… He later mentioned he’d send 40K for fuel, which to date, has never been sent.”

She didn’t mince words: “Let’s not reduce my value to 40K. I’ve worked hard to build a name, a brand, and a reputation in this industry. I know my worth, and those who’ve worked with me professionally know it too.”

As fans and followers react online, it’s clear this drama has struck a chord in Kenya’s entertainment scene. One thing’s for sure: Amber Ray isn’t here for clout-chasing narratives. She’s here to protect her brand—with truth, grace, and a whole lot of fire.
