Pop icon Katy Perry and Hollywood actor Orlando Bloom have officially ended their relationship, the couple confirmed in a joint statement to U.S. media on Thursday. The pair, who had been engaged since 2019, said they have been gradually transitioning their relationship in recent months with the goal of prioritizing co-parenting their daughter.

“They have been shifting their relationship over the past many months to focus on co-parenting,” their representatives said in the statement.
“Although the couple has split, they will continue to be seen together as a family, as their shared priority is raising their daughter with love, stability, and mutual respect.”

The decision to speak publicly comes in response to what their reps described as an “abundance of recent interest and conversation” about the couple’s status.

Perry, 40, and Bloom, 48, first began dating in January 2016, after meeting at a Golden Globes afterparty. They briefly split in 2017 before rekindling their romance later that year. The couple became engaged on Valentine’s Day 2019 in a romantic proposal that Perry once described as “a full-on helicopter situation.”

In August 2020, the couple welcomed their daughter, Daisy Dove Bloom, whose birth was announced by UNICEF, for whom both Perry and Bloom serve as goodwill ambassadors. Bloom is also father to 14-year-old Flynn, his son with ex-wife and Australian supermodel Miranda Kerr.

Despite the split, the couple made it clear that they remain committed to co-parenting their daughter and maintaining a strong family bond.

The separation comes at a challenging time for Perry, whose latest album “143” and its lead single “Woman’s World” have received mixed reviews and underwhelming commercial performance compared to her past chart-topping records.

While fans may be saddened by the breakup, the pair’s joint statement underscores their mutual respect and long-term focus on family—suggesting a drama-free, respectful parting.
